Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) - We have an MOA which is signed by a collective group of organisations within Marlborough who are all interested in helping prevent violence within the home for the community of Marlborough.
The Marlborough Violence Intervention Project is a network of organisations and members of the public working to make Marlborough a safer place to live.
We want to ensure Marlborough is a community where people enjoy personal safety and security, and are free from victimisation, abuse, violence and avoidable injury.
To achieve this vision we:
meet regularly to share ideas, to support each other and to do things together to combat family violence in Marlborough.
are proactive in lobbying at all levels.
run a publicity campaign throughout Marlborough and involve media in actively promoting a violence free community.
bring a focus in Marlborough on specific aspects such as White Ribbon Day, Child Abuse Prevention, Elder Abuse.
work closely with the National “It’s Not O.K Campaign”.
run an ongoing series of seminars which allow people to explore specific aspects of family violence in depth.
Co-publish a booklet on positive discipline and a booklet called How Are Your Relationships? for young women.
Our members include Age Concern, Barnardos, Bread of Life, Kimi Hauora Wairau Marlborough Primary Health Organisation, Maata Waka, Marlborough District Council, Marlborough Women’s Refuge, Plunket, the Police, SF Marlborough, Rural Women, Zonta and representatives from government agencies and departments.
MVIP welcomes new network members and partners, and is particularly interested in hearing from those with expertise to share collaborative actions to reduce violence in Marlborough and to spread the message in their own work place and in the wider community.
